ABOUT THE HUMANAIRES

The "Humanaires " is the non-professional membership chorus of the Congregation for Humanistic Judaism in Sarasota, Florida.

Our repertoires consist of a broad range of Jewish music in the various languages of the Jewish people:-Yiddish, Hebrew, English, Ladino and Aramaic. We have grown from a small group of seven singers in 1991 to our current size of thirty six members, or slightly over ten percent of of the total membership of our congregation. Our fellow congregant, David Berman, Professor Emeritus of the School of Music at Ithaca College, has been the Music Director and conductor from the very beginning.

The chorus performs one to two times each month at the various programs of our congregation, frequently involving the entire congregation in our singing. These last few years the chorus has performed at our local Jewish retirement home (Kobernik House), the community-wide holocaust observance (Yom HaShoah), The Sarasota-Manatee Jewish Federation, the Jewish Community Center, the Unitarian/Universalist Church and the Unity Church

Here are details of our next Concert
